Laminitis results from disruption (constant, intermittent, or short-term) of blood flow to the sensitive and insensitive laminae.
Also involved in the “founder” process is a disruption of the attachment mechanism between the sensitive and insensitive laminae.
These laminae structures within the foot secure the coffin bone (wedge-shaped bone within the foot) to the hoof wall. Inflammation can permanently weaken the laminae and interfere with the wall/bone bond.

Here are some suggested items for a first-aid kit:
~Thermometer
~Safety Scissors
~Stethoscope
~Self-sticking bandages like Vetrap (use carefully because it will constrict when wet)
~Adhesive bandage like 4” Elastikon
~Gauze squares- 4”x4”
~Vaseline
~1” or 2” white athletic tape
~Gauze bandage such as 4” Kling
~Some type of cold pack
~Standing Quilts-at least a pair
~Polo Wraps-at least a pair
~Antiseptic wound cream such as Triple ..... Comments
