Wellness Program

Why does my horse need a Wellness Program?

These days it takes an entire team to take care of your horse - i.e. your veterinarian, your farrier, perhaps a barn manager or trainer, the feed salesman, and you.  EquiMed LLC wants to be the team leader for the health care and wellness of your horse. Our Wellness Program offers you a variety of services at a reasonable price.

The cornerstone of our Wellness Program is the physical exam. During the physical exam, we will thoroughly examine your horse.  This is the time when you are able to express any concerns you may have and ask the doctor questions.  We will then administer vaccinations and deworm your horse.

Good quality dental care is also key in maintaining a healthy horse.  Our Advanced Wellness Program will provide a dental float, including sedation, in the fall when necessary.

We also encourage concurrent enrollment in the Pfizer PreventiCare Program. Our program fulfills all but one of the requirements of PreventiCare . Your only additional requirement would be the daily administration of Strongid C2X. For an additional cost of $.56 per day, why not take advantage of the benefit that Pfizer offers.  By enrolling in PreventiCare and following its guidelines, you qualify your horse for the added benefit of Pfizer’s Colic Assistance Plan. If your horse develops colic serious enough for surgery, Pfizer Animal Health will reimburse the operating surgeon for surgical costs and three days of aftercare, to a maximum of $5,000.

When your horse is enrolled in one or both programs, you have the peace of mind that you are providing your horse with exceptional health care. We believe that by emphasizing preventative health care, your horse will have a much greater opportunity to maintain good health and perform at its absolute best.

The Objectives of Well Care

  • A solid client/patient/veterinarian relationship is developed.  The doctor gets to know you and your horse before you may need emergency care.

  • You have the peace of mind that your horse is receiving the very best well care available.

  • Good preventative health care under the direction of an equine veterinarian significantly reduces the chances that your horse will require complicated treatment for colic.

Our staff would be happy to answer any questions

you may have regarding this program.

 EquiMed’s Wellness Program

Your cost for the Wellness Program is available at a substantial savings over the items separately. Additional horses may be enrolled at even more savings. Enrollment for 2007 Wellness Program will be open until May 1, 2007.

 Program requirements and restrictions.

  1. Deadline for 2007 enrollment is May 1, 2007.

  2. Payment must be made in full at the time of enrollment.

  3. All program fees are nonrefundable. In the unfortunate event of an enrolled horse's death, a credit for services yet to be rendered will be applied to clients account.

  4. If your horse is sold, the remaining services in the program will be honored to the new owner providing the horse stays within our service area.

  5. Pregnant mares, mares with foals at their side, and horses under 1 year of age are not eligible for the program.

  6. Other vaccinations and services may be recommended for your horse. However, no discount will apply.

  7. If your horse should require additional sedation and/or more extensive dental work than would be considered routine by our doctor, there will be an extra charge at the time the dental prophylaxis is performed. The doctor will inform you of the extent of the additional dental work that is necessary prior to the dental or at the time of the spring physical.

  8. The program can not be customized. This is the minimum health care that EquiMed LLC staff believes is necessary for the well care of your horse.
